About
About Angle Finder
A small, fast tool for measuring angles and tilt in the browser. Built to work everywhere and respect your privacy.
What it does
Angle Finder reads the size of an angle four ways: the live tilt of your device, the angle between two draggable needles on a protractor dial, the corner in front of the camera or in a photo, and a value you type in by hand. Every reading can be shown in degrees, radians, gradians, percent slope, roof pitch, or degrees-minutes-seconds. Save the ones you need to a local history, download a reading as an image, or export the lot as a CSV.
Why we built it
Most angle tools either need an install, hide the useful settings behind a paywall, or quietly send your data somewhere. We wanted the opposite: something that opens in a second, does the math on your own device, and never asks who you are. Angle Finder grew from a simple question - can a browser tab do everything a dedicated app does? - and the answer turned out to be yes.
What we won't do
- No accounts, no signup, no email address.
- No analytics and no third-party trackers.
- No cookie banner, because there are no cookies to consent to.
- No uploads - sensor readings, camera frames, and history stay on your device.
Built to include everyone
The dial and the camera overlay are fully keyboard-operable, the readout is announced to screen readers, and the interface respects high-contrast and reduced-motion settings. If a device has no motion sensor, or a permission is declined, the protractor, camera, and manual modes still work - the tool never becomes unusable.
How it's built
Angle Finder is a static site built with Astro and styled with Tailwind, shipped as an installable web app. There is no backend and no database: the instrument itself is a small amount of vanilla JavaScript that runs entirely in your browser.
